Early Life

Cristiano Ronaldo was born in 5th of February 1985 in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. He comes from a humble background, his father was a gardener and his mother a cook. At the age of 14, he was diagnosed with a heart condition which could have seen his footballing career ended, however, he kept on playing and continued to make his dream a reality.

Career

Cristiano Ronaldo began his football career at the young age of 8, playing for the amateur team Andorinha. This was quickly followed by a move to Nacional and then onto Sporting CP, where he was first spotted by Manchester United. In 2003, he signed his first professional contract with Manchester United and went on to become one of their most successful players, scoring 84 goals in 196 appearances.

In 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid in a record-breaking transfer deal and continued to break records and win awards. He has since won four Ballon d’Or awards and has become the highest paid footballer in the world. At club level, he has won 4 Champions League titles, 4 FIFA Club World Cup titles, and 2 La Liga titles, amongst many other awards.

Personal Life

Cristiano Ronaldo is known to be a family man, with a close relationship with his mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro. He has four children, two of which were born through surrogacy. He is also an active philanthropist and has set up his own foundation, the CR7 Foundation, which strives to improve the lives of children and young people in his home country of Portugal.
